Welcome to the Amazon Rain Forest

The Amazon Rain forest is the largest tropical rain forest in the world!

Its name comes from the Amazon River, which is the 2nd longest river in the world. (The Nile is the longest).

The Amazon Rain Forest makes up more than ½ of our planets surviving rain forests.

Rain Forests recycle carbon dioxide into oxygen. Approximately 20% of the earth’s oxygen is produced by the Amazon Rain Forest. Sometimes it’s called the “Lungs of our Planet.”

More than 1/3 of all animal species in the world live in the Amazon Rain Forest!

Today more than 20% of the Amazon Rain forest is gone and destroyed forever.
