Welcome to the Rain Forest in the Caribbean National Forest in Puerto Rico

The Caribbean National Forest is now called El Yunque National Forest.

It gets its name from an Indian Spirit Yuquiye; which means “Forest of Clouds.”

El Yunque National Forest is in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a small island in the Caribbean about 1,000 miles southeast of Miami, Florida.

Puerto Rico is not a US state, but it is a US territory. El Yunque is the only tropical Rain forest in the US National Forest System.

The Rain Forest has rare wildlife including the Puerto Rican Parrot, which is one of the most ten endangered species of birds.
