WELCOME TO THE RAIN FOREST MYSTERY WEB QUEST

RAIN FORESTS

Provide us with fresh oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide and are home to over ½ of our world’s plants and animals. They are also very important in developing medicine for cancer and other diseases. Unfortunately we are losing a lot of rain forests very quickly—about 4,000 football fields worth of rain forests are lost per hour.

And did you KNOW many of your everyday products originated from the rain forests?

*Bananas * fig newtons * milk * peanuts * coffee * aspirin * chocolate * rubber * wood * fruit juice

Your task is to visit the different rain forest regions around the world and gather clues to find out which of these products does not come from the rain forest.

Use the worksheet provided to show your work. You will be graded on answering the problems from the rain forests and answering the reflection questions on the student worksheet. Don’t forget to use full sentences when writing your answers. (Hint: Start in the Amazon Rain Forest, and end in the Temperate Rain Forest in Alaska, then solve the mystery!...Be careful and watch out for hanging vines; sometimes they’re really snakes! )
